Launch & Vacation. A Bad Idea or Good Juju?

The Launch + The Lounge: How I Ran My Biggest Sale of the Year from the Beach on vacation

t was somewhere between packing my bathing suit and throwing my sons’ golf clubs in the trunk that I realized, this summer, I was launching my biggest sale of the year and it was either going to feel absolutely amazing, or the worst idea I have ever had.

We headed to Rosemary Beach, FL for a week while my son attended FSU Golf Camp, and while he worked on his backswing, I oversaw the complexities of a big 5 day sale.

Yes, from spotty, sandy wifi. And yes, intentionally.

This is the first time I have ever done a huge promotion during a trip. Typically, I love to just have my passive funnels running on auto pilot while I’m on vacation. But this time, I felt like I needed to do something different. How would it feel to bring launch revenue while I wasn’t home?

For years, I believed that a big promotion meant a full calendar, late-night emails, and being glued to my laptop. But this season, I flipped the script. I traded hustle for harmony, because I learned something powerful: when your systems are strong and your energy is aligned, the results don’t require burnout.

Here’s the good, the bad and the ugly of launching while on vacation.

The event-

I love Gemma Bonham Carters’ Five Days of Deals celebration. I bought her course last year and love the simplicity of the sale. A daily rotating spotlight of customer-favorite offers, bonuses, and surprise bundles. Each day featured a new theme, like “Founder’s Favorites,” “Bundle + Save,” or “Flash Bonus Friday,” creating consistent excitement and urgency.

We promoted them across email, Instagram, and stories, with exclusive discounts available for 24 hours only. The limited-time structure created buzz and engagement without overwhelming our community.

The Outcome-

Summer might not have been the best time to run this sale. I brought in about half of the revenue I did during Black Friday. Although, everything went smoothly I think I would rather not run a promotion during a quiet time like summer.
